Joel has always loved music from a young age, where in 1999 he started a mobile disco company with some friends, It was a lot of trial and error, but also a lot of fun, this proceeded to fuel the passion in him to become a DJ.
A few years later he got involved with a friend who was starting up a music label which resulted in connections to the club scene being made, one of whom was a DJ called Ian Punter, a big name in the alternative indie scene throughout the years promoting his own nights in venues around Essex including Mayhem Nightclub in Southend-On-Sea where Joel met him, this soon started a lifelong friendship.
Joel started working alongside Ian occasionally at his nights in other venues, Those included Buddha Lounge/Opium Lounge in Romford & Mayhem Nightclub in Southend-On-Sea.
This progressed to Joel being offered a chance to become a resident DJ at one of his new nights (Panic!) at a club called Chameleon in Southend-On-Sea which was his first main residency in a nightclub which lasted for 7 years.
While at Chameleon Nightclub he got to DJ alongside some big names, including: DJ Lethal (House of Pain), John “Benji” Webbe (Skindred), Shikari Sound system (Enter Shikari), Melissa Clarke (Suicide girls) also Fonti & Mighty Moe (Pure silk) to name a few.
From that point on Joel started to make a name for himself in the nightclub scene & soon became a firm favourite for weekly clubbers. Joel’s talent was recognised by the nightclub owners and he was quickly offered extra work at Dick de Vigneís also in Southend-On-sea covering occasionally when needed, leading to another fixed residency being offered which lasted for 2 years until the pandemic hit.
Joel quickly progressed to become a well known DJ in Southend with headlining nights such as Panic! at Chameleon, Cheesecake Tuesday which evolved in to Twisted Tuesday at Annie’s Attic. He’s also performed at Box Nightclub & and some venues based in Brighton over the years.
Sadly all of these venues are now closed, but the love for music never dies.
Joel is known as being a very intuitive DJ and the favourite part of being a DJ for him is introducing people to new or forgotten music and seeing them have a great night out.
A lot of Joel’s DJ sets have been multi-genre revolving around the blending of Alternative, Dance, House, Drum & Bass, Indie and many other varieties of music as you’ll see if you attend one of his nights.
